We are running a new series to look back on some of the activities that STW participants have been part of to enable personal development. The first in our series is Adventure Based Learning (ABL).
ABL involves working in a small group completing a variety of problem-solving, trust and co-operative challenges to enhance personal and social development. Often it's the quieter members of a group that have the solution to the challenge, so it's great to see each person get the chance to share their ideas and the team come up with joint strategies to try out.
A willingness to accept thoughts that are different from one's own, the ability to regroup and persevere when an attempt isn't successful and a shared joy in team accomplishments all help develop skills that can be applied to many other areas of life. Tino pai rangatahi!
